ZEN SHIATSU MASSAGE THERAPY

Shiatsu literally means finger pressure. The Zen Shiatsu therapist use their shifting body weight to apply hand and finger pressure to your resting body. The pressure is applied along the Meridial Lines (energy lines) of your Body. This gentle, penetrating pressure has the effect of relaxing your body, calming your mind and supporting your inherent healing processes.

The Zen 'no mind' element simply means that although the therapy is diagnostic there is no judgement. The therapist attends to your energy requirements as your body reveals them in the moment.

Zen Shiatsu follows a system. A system that works with meridian point therapy, as used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In this process the therapist applies one hand to 'challenge' and the other hand to 'support'. This allows changes in pressure gradients, particularly when your body has an excess or blockage of energy accumulated at certain places and the concomitant deficiencies in other areas.

Zen Shiatsu helps to relieve all kinds of physical and emotional symptoms. It aims to bring into symmetry your discordant body parts. It creates positive and permanent changes in your body on a functional, structural and emotional level. Zen Shiatsu addresses, amongst other things back pain, headaches, poor circulation, fluid retention and menstrual problems.

At first it is recommended that you undergo regular, weekly treatments for one month. This is followed by 2 regular followup balancing treatments every 5 to 6 weeks. For chronic conditions, certain dietry changes may be recommended along with prescribed stretches and resting exercises to augment and hasten your healing and return to health.
